Is there a requirement for a chimney?
No. The outside wall serves as the direct vent for the maize stove. When the stoves are used for inserting fireplaces, the stoves are vented from a chimney which already exists and thus rules out the need for one.
How should the fire in the stove be started?
The corn should be ignited first and is done with the help of solid sticks which help to start fire or by using traditional wood pellets or alcohol based gel which starts fire.
Will a thermostat be present?
A thermostat which is manually controlled is equipped to the units which will regulate the corn quantitiy which is fed inside the chamber unit, thus regulating the temperature.
Is there an adjustable speed control in the blower of the room?

What is the level of maintenance that is required for the stoves?
Depending upon the present setting of the temperature a cinder gets formed inside the fire box and should be removed thoroughly using the cinder tool present. This may be needed to do twice a day if the settings of the temperature are higher. The unit is not required to be turned off to perform this operation. At least 3 minutes is required for normal daily maintenance to remove excess cinder and fill it with corn. The inside may also be wiped with a glass or paper towel. On every 10th day to at least 2 weeks the whole unit should be turned off and the insides have to be thoroughly cleaned and rubbed using a brush and vacuumed out. This helps in removing any dust residue. When then glass is cool it has to be cleaned an dried using a soft cloth and glass cleaner.
